Nottingham City Regatta – Review
KCH Teamsheet: KCH – Nottingham City Regatta Teamsheet
Review
An encouraging days racing with nearly all the King’s crews getting much needed race experience on the regatta course two weeks before National Schools. A strong tailwind aided the crews to put in some fast times. Highlights included the The J15 Girls VIII winning Novice VIIIs by 6 lengths and a dominant performance in the afternoon by the senior boys coxed four who won the IM2 4+ event with a strong row, good signs for two weeks time!

Henley Royal Regatta 2012
As in other years the school first eight will be competing in this, the most prestigious event of the British Rowing Calender. Last year the KSRCPA ran a most enjoyable picnic and we intend on repeating the event this year. We shall aim to meet on Wednesday 27th June from 12pm onwards. Anyone with links to King’s School either current or past alumni is most cordially invited to join us. I have booked a space in the Remenham Farm Carpark in row 1.(This car park is halfway along the course. If you search online for ‘Henley regatta 2012 parking’ you will be able to see a map of the venue and the carparks. It is also possible to book parking in advance) You will recognise the Kings School Rowing Club marquee and banners which we are intending to bring and erect there.
Do come along, we had a lovely relaxed and delicious picnic last year and even managed to see some rowing!

King’s battle with the best at Wallingford Regatta
Calm waters greeted the crews from around the country for the national 2000 metre regatta held on the Olympic Lake at Dorney. The boys 2nd VIII had a tough day, just failing to make their respective finals in both their events. The 1st had a good day, finishing 2nd in the under 18 VIIIs and then 4th in the senior IM2 VIIIs. The J15 2nd VIII failed to progress in their event but learnt many valuable lessons.
The day belonged once again to the senior girls coxed four who bettered their morning finish of 3rd in IM2 coxed fours by rowing through the field in the afternoon final of the IM3 coxed fours, bringing back further silverware for the trophy cabinet in Chester.
Weekend Results:
| Crew | KCH Crew | Finish Position | Time |
| IM3 4+ | Senior Girls 4+ | 1st | 8:04.37 |

Support your Rowers: KSRCPA update for parents and supporters
The regatta season is upon us and the club has a busy few weeks coming up. KSRCPA committee members will be attending multiple events and we hope to see many parents and supporters out cheering on the club. We are aiming to have a gazebo up as a meeting point at the following events:
- Saturday 5 May – Evesham regatta
- Sunday 6 May – Wallingford regatta (gazebo space permitting)
- Saturday 12 May – Bedford regatta
Please do come and join us supporting the club at these events. The culmination of school level rowing for the year is National Schools Regatta in Nottingham 1-3 June. As last year we will have the bigger marquee up and will be providing catering for the rowers as well as some refreshments for parents and supporters. Last year was a great success providing huge support for the club which was reflected in results. The more supporters we can get, the better it will be.
Last, our annual barbecue will be held on the quadrangle at school on the afternoon of Saturday 9 June. This is a revised date to allow for the very busy rowing schedule with the aim of having as many of the rowers and parents attend as we can. It’s the end of half term and also the weekend after National Schools so will, we hope, be a good time to celebrate. Please put it in your diaries now. More details of the event including how to apply for tickets are available on the rowing club website or from your nearest committee member.
I look forward to seeing many of you in the next few weeks.
